"Thank
you for a fantastic event!
This was our first year at the Watauga Lake Triathlon, and
we'll definitely be back next year. We loved every aspect
of the race. The event location is fantastic. The bike course
really showcases the area, and we enjoyed the scenery as we
huffed and puffed up the long climbs. We enjoyed the challenging
nature of the course."

The Watauga
Lake Triathlon
was inspired by the picturesque countryside and pristine waters
of Watauga Lake. Watauga literally means "beautiful water"
and it certainly holds true to its given name. Watauga holds
the distinction of being the highest reservoir (more than
1900 feet above sea level) in the Tennessee river system.
Surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest and flanked by
the Appalachain Mountains, Watauga Reservoir is arguably the
most scenic in the Tennessee River Watershed.
The Fourth Annual event will take place at 9:00am on Saturday, September 13, 2008, at the Sugar Grove Baptist Church (directions)
and a local family farm perched on the banks of the lake in
a scenic, pastoral setting. This will be a low-key festive
event with overall men/women cash prizes, awards, and a post-race
barbecue.
